Interview to our Biology teacher Mr Bossini

Hi everybody! We are Estefanía and Carla, students of 4ºA. And our first article in Portoview magazine is an interesting interview made to an old and very important teacher in our secondary school. He’s Mr Bossini, Biology and Geology teacher. Here you have some information about him and about what he thinks:

-How long have you been working here?

I have been working here since 1991; that is, for 23 years.

-Have you always wanted to be a teacher?

I have always known that what I wanted to be was a teacher. When I was 17 years old,I used to explain chemistry and biology to my friends in class,in the secondary school ‘Nicolas Salmeron’.

-What changes have there been in our school during all this time? Do you think there have been changes as regards the organization?

Yes, the organization was easier than now, because there were only two levels: BUP, and vocational training (formación profesional). And now it’s more complex: ESO, Bachillerato, ciclos formativos,… Also, the size of the school has grown as the number of students and teachers. And when there are more students, there are more problems because it’s more difficult to organise everything.

-And what about the behaviour of the students?

As always, there have been two kinds of students: upright students (the majority) and the rebels (10/20%) who disturb the students who really want to learn. In my opinion, the school management team must take measures to help the hardworking students and to punish the bad ones.

-What improvements should the high school make?

I think its environment should improve (vegetation, playgrounds…). The school management team should be stricter and faster. And there should be more respect between teachers and students and parents.

-Then, what do you think Sol de Portocarrero school needs?

ESO and Bachillerato students should have the same privileges as the ones in Vocational Training courses as regards the materials, the budget and the trips. A better work is needed when organising timetables and groups of students, or trying to spend money in necessary things instead of unnecessary ones.

-Give us your personal opinion about our school.

Although it has some problems,it’s one of the best secondary schools.
